Ethiopia says Muse Bihi's arrival will not damage Ethiopia and Somalia relationMogadishu (HOL) - Ethiopia's Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Dina Mufti said that the recent visit of Somaliland's President Muse Bihi would not affect his government's relationship with Somalia.
"We are a people living in the Horn of Africa who have a common interest; Bihi’s visit or any other visitor will not hurt our relationship with Somalia."
Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi was in Addis Ababa earlier this week, where he met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. It has been speculated that the two discussed the Berbera port, but it has not yet officially been confirmed.
Ethiopia’s PM Abiy Ahmed and Somalia’s President are close allies in the Horn of Africa. The two leaders, along with Eritrea’s Isaiah Afwerki, signed a Tripartite Agreement in September 2018. They pledged to"build close political, economic, social, cultural and security ties" while respecting each other’s territorial sovereignty.
