Six individuals have been detained by the Somali Police in connection with the murder of a Somali man who worked for the Somali Civil Aviation Authority in Mogadishu, as announced on Sunday evening.

Six individuals have been detained by the Somali Police in connection with the murder of a Somali man who worked for the Somali Civil Aviation Authority in Mogadishu, as announced on Sunday evening.

The deceased, Abdinasir Muse Abdirahman, aged 32, was found by Mogadishu police at his residence in El-Qalow village, situated within the Wadajir district.

Originally hailing from Gebiley town in northern Somalia, the victim had recently returned from abroad after completing his studies. Prior to his return, he had served with the staff of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Hargeisa.

Omar Sayid Abdulla, the director of the Somaliland Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (SL-CAAA), stated that they are promptly evaluating individuals from Somaliland who have previously been involved in aviation matters and are currently employed by the federal government of Somalia.

No entity has claimed responsibility for the death of Abdinasir Muse Abdirahman.

Tensions have escalated between the federal government and the secessionist region of Somalia regarding control of the nation's airspace, particularly following Ethiopia's signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Somaliland leader Muse Bihi Abdi.

Last month, Somalia's Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) refused airspace access to an unscheduled Ethiopian Airlines flight, citing the absence of proper authorization from Mogadishu authorities. The flight, reportedly transporting senior Ethiopian officials to Somaliland, underscored the ongoing diplomatic disputes between Somalia and Ethiopia.
