As severe droughts are reported to have hit many parts in war-torn Somalia, at least 5 people reported to have died of hunger in central Somalia.
Abdulaziiz Abdullahi Abdi, Ahlu Sunna's district commissioner in Buula-burde in Hiran region of central Somalia, has confirmed Shabelle for the deaths of those people.
He said local residents and domestic animals in the region are on the verge of death as severe droughts hit in many parts of Somalia.
The district commissioner spelled out that the lives of hundreds of families mainly women and children might be in danger or die of thirst and hunger.
He called international aid agencies to stand how to help droughts affected Somali people and spare their lives soon.
Somali government officials, religious leaders and scholars have expresses a deep anxiety over the life conditions of hundreds of thousands of people who fled from Islamists led insurgence which kicked of late 2006 after many of Ethiopian military forces invaded Somalia in support for Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, former president of TFG.
