Somalia's prison's boss Gen. Mahad Abdirahman Adan was today cleared to run for MP in South West state joining a growing number of top security officials who are heading to the federal parliament.
The State Indirect Elections team (SIET) in Baidoa handed General Adan the certificate of clearance Monday paving the way for his entry into the race.
The prisons commandant is expected to head to the ballot on Tuesday as South West is set to elect the remaining seven MPs.
So far, South West has elected 62 MPs out of the 69 slots allocated to the regional state.
General Adan now joins top National Security Intelligence and Security officials who have since been elected as MPs. NISA acting chief Yasin Farey and his junior Abdullahi Kulane have since been elected in Galmudug state.
In HirShabelle state National Security Advisor Fahad Yasin has secured his seat at the 275 member chamber of the Lower House and so have several other
security officials.
