Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud journeyed to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Friday to participate in significant gatherings, including the 37th session of the African Union Summit.
In a declaration, Villa Somalia announced that the president would communicate Somalia's unequivocal position against any meddling in its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
President Mohamud underscored that the populace and administration of Somalia would not abide any actions undermining their patriotism and territorial integrity.
"We uphold our resolute stance concerning the matter of Ethiopia. Any transgression against our nation is an unattainable aspiration, as we have already elucidated to everyone. We are transmitting this message globally," affirmed the president.
During his sojourn in Addis Ababa, President Mohamud will engage in three significant gatherings, comprising the 37th African Union (AU) Summit, IGAD, and the East Africa Community Leaders meeting.
The Somali government restated its position that Somalia would not partake in arbitration discussions with Ethiopia until Addis Ababa withdraws from the illicit Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) it endorsed with the secessionist region of Somaliland on January 1.
This MoU, which affords Ethiopia entry to the Red Sea port of Berbera, has prompted substantial apprehensions regarding regional stability and security. Somalia staunchly opposes this pact, deeming it null and void, and has summoned back its ambassador to Ethiopia.
