The female parents are resorting to the media to drum home the urgent need for peace and promised to press on until Somalia know peace.

“You know if there is no peace there is no life, so we are extremely encouraging our sons and men, especially to those fighting against one another to be kind to each other and stop the hostility among them. The young generations must be allowed to take pen rather than gun,” one of the organizers Hawo Fanah told AfricaNews.

Somalia has not witnessed peace since political stability broke down in 1991. Women and children have been at the receiving end of the violence between a weakened government side and Al-Qaeda inspired terrorist group Al-shaabab.

Fanah told the men: “Every woman passing around you is either a joyful sister, or baby daughter, a merciful mother or beloved wife to the fellow men on this globe so that, they ought to be inspired, respected, achieved, honored and loved ever and ever at both home and away.

“We would like to continue our declaration till peace is done, but also would like to see if the international community could come up with a peace proposal for Somalia, though it has failed in several times to halt the sadism.”
