At least 5 people have been killed and several others wounded after land mine blast targeted to government soldiers traveling on Warshadaha Street in the Somali capital Mogadishu, witnesses, officials said on Monday.

Government officials said that the explosion happened as some of government troops removed the mine from under the ground in the area of Warshadaha Street and then put at in a small vehicle of the soldiers adding that it was lately exploded where was not far away from areas.

Reports say that 4 of the five died were soldiers of the transitional government of Somalia while more others including civilians wounded.

Ahmed Yare, government officer denied tat they lost soldiers in the land mine blast saying that they had conducted operations in the zone shortly as the blast occurred.

Blasts targeting government soldiers became normal in the Somali capital.
