The president pays tribute to the heroic efforts of the Somali arm forces and our brothers AMISOM for their commitment and courage in dealing with the terror group Al-Shabab/Al-Qaeda decisively so that the Somali people can reside with dignity and freedom in their homeland.

This development marks a significant step in our effort not only to secure the capital but as part of Operations to restore peace and stability across the country and extend the government’s authority to other regions.

Our resolve is strong and we are determined to bring an end to the cycle of violence that the militants are set on perpetuating. The government will not be diverted from working in the national interest, deliver humanitarian assistance to those in need, heal the Somali state and build a strong future for this beautiful country.

“As the recent Somali National Consultative Conference in Garowe demonstrates, our military efforts are matched by our will to make the same strides publically” said president Sharif who urged the Somali people to unite and participate in the rebuilding of our nation.
