(HOL) - A private plane carrying the Commander of the Somali National Army General Mohamed Tahliil Bihi and the leader of the self-styled Hiiraan Revolutionary Council, General Abukar Warsame Hud has landed at Mogadishu International Airport on Wednesday, where Somali government troops and officials greeted them.
Speaking to the media in the VIP section of Aden Adde International Airport, General Abukar Hud said that the purpose of his visit to Mogadishu was to meet with Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
"I came to Mogadishu to make concessions to the federal government, there were no talks between us in Hirshabelle, and I came to Mogadishu to discuss our rights with the president of Somalia, and I tell the people of Hiran that my plan to seek justice is still there,” said General Hud.
"We will do our best to find the right solution."
The meeting would mark the first time that the rogue General Huud sat down directly with President Farmajo since the beginning of the second Hirshabelle administration.
Abukar Hud declared that he and his supporters would not recognize Hirshabelle as a legitimate administration. Before he left for Mogadishu, he told reporters that he still did not recognize Hirshabelle, and that is why he is engaging with the federal government to solve the impasse in Beledweyne.
However, there are reports that General Huud’s decision to meet with the federal government has created some divisions within his Hiiraan Revolutionary Council, with many officials advising him not to go.
General Mohamed Tahliil Bihi thanked all those who organized the talks, with special thanks to General Hud and the Hawadle clan leader, Ugas Yusuf Ugas Hassan Ugas Khalif.
