The head of the Wadajir political party and a parliament member, Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, voiced criticism towards President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's decision to journey to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, denoting it as an error on Thursday.

President Mohamud had announced that a delegation from the Somali government under his leadership would embark on a trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in the upcoming days to participate in three major conferences, namely the 37th African Union (AU) Summit, IGAD, and the East Africa Community Leaders meeting.

Nevertheless, the legislator contended that if it wasn't considered essential, the government ought to have scaled down its ties with Ethiopia, and the stature of the delegation dispatched to the AU summit should have been minimized.

"I was not privy to any accord between us and Addis Ababa. We're aware of their transgressions against the nation's unity and territorial integrity. The president needs to elucidate his rationale for attending a meeting in Addis Ababa," remarked Abdirahman Abdishakur.

He additionally censured the Somali parliament for neglecting to interrogate the president about his excursion, asserting their preoccupation with amending the country's constitution.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud recently reiterated that Somalia would abstain from engaging in mediation talks with Ethiopia until Addis Ababa revokes the illegal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked with the breakaway region of Somaliland on January 1.

The MoU, which accords Ethiopia access to the Red Sea port of Berbera, has sparked significant apprehensions regarding regional stability and security. Somalia has vehemently opposed this agreement, declaring it null and void, and has recalled its ambassador to Ethiopia.
